How can I stay safe on a motorcycle?

How can I stay safe on a motorcycle?

It is no surprise that thousands of people in the state of Illinois choose to ride a motorcycle. They are extraordinary gas efficient, low profile, and a lot of fun. No matter what your reasons are for riding a motorcycle, however, they can be very dangerous. Many people on the road are not looking for motorcyclists, and getting into a serious accident as a motorcycle rider is a very real possibility. It is important to have a plan in place to keep yourself safe on the road. And, as Motorcycle Cruiser asserts, things like having a loud exhaust will not help other drivers notice you more.

The first tip is to try to avoid traffic as much as possible. Or, at least, avoid traffic that is intersecting the road you are on or going the opposite way. This means that getting on the freeway is a safer bet than taking the windy back road. While one of the more fun aspects of riding a motorcycle is going on to the back streets, statistically that is not the best choice. If you are simply using your motorcycle for commuting means, try to stay on the freeway as much as possible. You particularly want to avoid places like busy shopping mall parking lots.

The next is to ensure that other drivers have a good chance of seeing you. Many drivers are not alert for motorcyclists, and, often, after an accident with a motorcyclist, many operators of four-wheel vehicles will state that they never saw the motorcyclist to begin with. This means that choosing brighter colors to wear while you are on your bike is a good idea. You may like the aesthetic of Rebel Without a Cause, but dressing like a construction worker will do you more good.
